London Scrapbook Part One

On Sunday September 13th, we got in the car and drove, we didn’t really know where we were going but we knew we wanted to go out.

Within half an hour we were at the station and buying tickets to London.

I used to live in London.

I have taken Baba once.

Boo and Mr L have never been.

Baba has never done what I call real London.

None of them have visited Leicester Square, Piccadilly Circus, Covent Garden, etc, so we decided to go and explore.

We spent a whole day walking around.

Seeing the sites.

And taking pictures.

100’s of pictures.

I have slowly started to scrapbook them.

One by one, ready for an album for Mr L and I, for Baba and for Boo.

I can’t wait to get them all finished. I have great plans for these albums.

But for now here is the start of our album.

The main album, of our trip to London.

Scrapbooking doesn’t have to be special memories, it doesn’t have to be massive memories, it can just be a small moment, a moment that you want to remember.

One that will last forever.

And that is what this photo represents to me, just a dad and son, having a moment, being silly, sharing an experience together.

Making a memory.

Fruit Picking Album

Two pictures of strawberries.

Pictures that I really like of strawberries but that is all they really are just two pictures of strawberries, they tell no story, they could have been taken any where at any time.

And then I put them into a scrapbook page.

I wrote down the date, 31st July 2015. I added a tag saying it was a day to remember and I put the title Fruit Picking.

That would have been enough really to remind of where we were and what we were doing, but I decided to add another tag. One that explained the two photos of strawberries a little more.

It wasn’t a massive description, it wasn’t a difficult description it was just the truth of what happened.

“A day of searching for the strawberries. After lots of walking, looking and foraging we finally found some decent, juicy strawberries. Worth it in the end!”

No longer are these pictures just two random pictures of strawberries, they now have a place, they have a date, they have a story, they are part of a memory.

A memory that is forever recorded in a scrapbook.

(Scrapbook page was made in MyMemories software, using the Summers Meadow Collection, designed by Clever Monkey Graphics)

The Start of The Isle of Wight Scrapbook

This summer we have done lots of visits, and been to lots of places.

Now the summer is over, it is time to get scrapbooking the photos, and writing down the memories.

I am not doing them chronologically, I am just doing the pages as I am inspired to do the pages, some will be digital, some will be traditional and some will be a mixture of both. But the end result will be the photos and the memories will be stored, and scrapbooked for us to look at over the years and for the boys to have forever.

This page was digitally made, with just one photo and a kit from MyMemories programme, the Sailaway kit.

I gave the photo a mat, and added the anchor embellishments, along with a Bracket Book Plate embellishment.

The rest of the page is a poem from John Masefield, called Sea Fever. It is the perfect poem for this page all of us love the sea. We love being near the sea, and if I am feeling sad or down I head to the sea it is a perfect boost.

This photo was one that I took at Ryde just from the Ferry terminal after we arrived in the Isle of Wight.

I have only written the date and place on the page, as this will be added to the main Isle of Wight album and will be the first page for the album.

A simple but effective page. One where we can remember where we were, what date it was on, and one where we can read the poem and be taken straight back to the sea again.

This page was made while I was making my lunch and took about 30 minutes in total.

MyMemories Review

As you know from my previous post, I dip in and out of traditional and digital scrapbooking, and love to do both of them.

I love the ease of digital scrapbooking, and it the immediate effect of it, there is no printing of the photos before you can scrap them, it is a case of take the photo, edit it and scrapbook. With the ease of the laptop it is something I can do instantly after taking the photos, and can do in front of the TV as well. What a great way to spend an evening!

I don’t want digital scrapbooking to be difficult I am a firm believer that no scrapbooking should be difficult. Which is why I love MyMemories Suite

It is a digital scrapbooking software that is so easy to use and has great flexibility, you can be totally creative and develop your pages from scratch, or you can use pre made templates to make your pages. You can drag and drop your photos into the pages, or you can use the auto fill feature. So basically it is up to you how creative you can be, or how difficult or simple you can make the pages.

And you don’t have to just do scrapbook pages. You can use this software to create scrapbooks, photo books, custom gifts, invites and many more items.

If that isn’t enough you can get your digital pages printed professionally or you can print at home. It really covers everything and is a scrapbookers dream.

I love the ease of the software and that you can make a page, save an album and then add to that album as and when you need to. A great feature as I am not a chronological scrapbooker, I scrapbook pages as I have ideas for them, so always have lots of albums on the go at the same time.

It is quick as well.

Only this morning I made these two pages, within an hour, using the exact same items, but creating two completely different pages.

Such a simple style, nothing too complicated, two different pages that really compliment each other.

The library on the software has been perfectly fine for what I have needed so far, but the advantage of MyMemories is if I wanted some different items, or pages, their shop on the site is vast, and I have been looking regularly at the different items that can be brought. There really is something for everyone there, which I think is an added advantage, and all are so reasonably priced or even free. You can’t get better than that.

I certainly will be using MyMemories from now on for my digitally scrapbooking and will be recommending it to anyone that asks as well. As it is such a joy to work with.

And the best bit is that MyMemories have given me a lovely code for you the readers.

This code gives you $10 discount of the purchase of the My Memories Suite making the software only $29.99 which is a complete bargain as I promise you, you will use this software for many years and for many items.
